Job Description (JD) – Painter (FPSO). 8 numbers
Position: Painter / Blaster Painter
Department: Marine Maintenance / Asset Integrity
Location: FPSO- Mumbai and Kakinada.
Reports To: Marine Supervisor

Job Purpose:

To perform surface preparation, blasting, painting, and protective coating activities on FPSO structures, piping, tanks, vessels, and equipment to prevent corrosion, maintain asset integrity, and ensure compliance with company HSE and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Surface Preparation. Prepare surfaces through cleaning, scraping, sanding, grinding, and abrasive blasting.
2. Remove rust, scale, old coatings, and contaminants before painting.
3. Mask and protect adjacent equipment and structures during painting activities.
4. Ocean Crew + Painting & Coating Application. Apply primers, epoxy polyurethane, and other protective coating systems using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
5. Perform touch-up painting and coating repairs as required.
6. Ensure coating thickness and quality meet project specifications and inspection requirements.
7. Equipment Operation. Operate and maintain blasting machines, air compressors, spray pumps, airless spray units, and associated painting equipment.
8. Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of painting tools and equipment.

Safety & Compliance:-

Comply with Permit to Work (PTW) systems, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Risk Assessments.
Use PPE and fall protection equipment while working at heights and in confined spaces.
Follow offshore HSE procedures and environmental protection requirements.
Participate in emergency response and drills as assigned.
Housekeeping & Reporting
Maintain clean and safe work areas.
Report coating defects, corrosion findings, and equipment issues to supervisors.
Record daily work activities and material consumption.

Qualification & Experience

ITI / Diploma or equivalent qualification.
Certification in Industrial Painting / Protective Coating Application preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience as Industrial Painter/Blaster, preferably on FPSO, offshore platforms, ships, or oil & gas facilities.
Knowledge of marine coating systems and corrosion control methods.

Mandatory Certifications

BOSIET / FOET / HUET (as applicable)
Offshore Medical Fitness Certificate
Basic Fire Fighting & Sea Survival Training
Working at Height and Confined Space Training (preferred)
STCW Basic Safety Training (for marine personnel)

Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of abrasive blasting and protective coating techniques.
Ability to read paint specifications and technical procedures.
Familiarity with corrosion prevention and coating inspection requirements.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in offshore environments, at heights, and in confined spaces.

Physical Requirements:

Medically fit for offshore deployment.
Ability to lift materials and equipment.
Comfortable working in harsh weather.
