About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) to join our asset management and engineering support team in Mumbai. This role serves as the critical onshore technical support link for our offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units, focusing on the maximum availability, reliability, and safety of complex electrical distribution and instrumentation/control systems.
You will provide daily technical guidance to the offshore crew, spearhead troubleshooting for critical system failures, manage modifications, and ensure complete compliance with marine class and international safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support: Provide real-time onshore technical support to offshore E&I technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues with power generation, distribution, and control systems.

System Reliability: Monitor the health and performance of critical E&I assets, including high/medium voltage (HV/MV) switchgear, transformers, gas turbine generators, emergency generators, and variable speed drives (VSDs).

Automation & Controls: Oversee the integrity and modification of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and Fire and Gas (F&G) systems.

Management of Change (MOC): Lead E&I-related MOC processes, preparing engineering packages, updating single line diagrams (SLDs), loop drawings, and cause-and-effect matrices.

Maintenance & Turnaround Strategy: Optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies (including Ex-equipment compliance in hazardous areas) and support E&I scope definition for major shutdowns and turnarounds

Vendor & Class Coordination: Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, specialized vendors, and marine classification societies (e.g., DNV, ABS) to ensure regulatory compliance and timely certification updates.


Required Experience & Technical Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electronics Engineering.
Experience: 6 to 12 years of experience in E&I engineering within the Oil & Gas sector, with at least 3+ years of direct operational support for FPSO topsides, offshore platforms, or marine vessels.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx standards), HV/MV power distribution, and functional safety (SIL).

Software/Systems: Familiarity with power system analysis tools (like ETAP) and hands-on exposure to major automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, or Emerson).

Soft Skills
Excellent analytical and root-cause analysis (RCA) skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of effectively bridging onshore engineering with offshore operations teams.
