Job Description
Job Title: Operations Engineer Process (Offshore FPSO)
Location: Mumbai, India
Industry: Oil & Energy / Offshore / Oil & Gas
About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and solution-driven Operations Engineer (Process) to support our offshore asset management team based in Mumbai. This role bridges the gap between onshore engineering design and live offshore production, focusing heavily on the safe, continuous, and optimized performance of topsides process systems on our Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units.
You will act as the primary onshore technical anchor for process-related troubleshooting, production optimization, debottlenecking, and flow assurance challenges, ensuring the asset meets its daily production targets safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Optimization: Monitor daily offshore production data, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify opportunities to optimize process systems (separation, gas compression, water injection, and chemical treatment).
Technical Troubleshooting: Provide real-time engineering support to the offshore operations crew to troubleshoot process upsets, equipment trips, and flow assurance issues.
Management of Change (MOC): Lead and evaluate process-related MOCs, conducting engineering assessments and ensuring updates to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process descriptions, and operating manuals are completed.
Safety & Risk Assessment: Actively participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including HAZOP, HAZID, and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) for modifications or operational anomalies.
De-bottlenecking & Studies: Run process simulations to evaluate system capacities, perform hydraulic calculations, and design debottlenecking solutions for topside modules.
Shutdown & Startup Planning: Collaborate with the planning and production teams to develop safe operating procedures for planned shutdowns, turnaround maintenance, and asset restarts.
Required Experience & Technical Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in process engineering or production operations within the Oil & Gas sector, with a minimum of 3 years of direct operational support for FPSO topsides or offshore production platforms.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of oil/water/gas separation, gas lift, gas compression, oil stabilization, and chemical injection systems. Strong grasp of flow assurance principles.
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with process simulation software like HYSYS, UniSim, or PIPESIM is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to both offshore technicians and executive management.
Agility to handle high-pressure operational situations and make sound technical decisions under tight timelines.
